My research focuses on mechanisms underpinning global change impacts on biodiversity at different scales. Via co-supervision of PhD, my recent researches focus on the assessment of different pressures (light pollution, agriculture intensification, road infrastructure, wind energy) on bat populations. I also contributed to the assessments of the relevance of policies such as the designation effect of Natura2000 areas on non-targeted species, and on biodiversity offsets in the context of the mitigation hierarchy.

My work aims to better assess the risk of mortality of birds and bats associated with wind turbines, including a better estimate of persistence and detectability factors.
This work will allow to establish recommendations to limit the impact of wind energy on bats and birds.

My current research focuses on assessing the impact of offshore windfarms on bats and birds using bioacoustic monitoring. This project will also improve our general knowledge of the presence of bats and landbirds offshore, by notably identifying the potential variables determining their activity (e.g. weather, season)

Following a PhD thesis on the effects of light pollution on the spatial - and also temporal - distribution of bats, my work led me to develop a taste for emerging biodiversity monitoring methods and approaches (participatory science, eco-acoustics). I have put these interests into practice by taking part in a new research project aimed at using acoustic monitoring coupled with machine learning tools to study the response of biodiversity to anthropogenic pressures.

Road and motorway networks have been identified as one of the main pressures on biodiversity. Yet few studies have looked at the effects of these transport infrastructures on bats. The objective of my work is to study the impact of motorways in different landscape contexts and to assess whether the environments restored or recreated in the context of mitigation measures are positive for bat activity. The results of this work could be used to support sustainable land use planning.

My interest in human – non-human relationships is currently focused on studying the effects of terrestrial and offshore wind turbines (attraction-avoidance behavior, detour in migratory routes, consequences on population dynamics) on bats and birds communities. Additionally, I investigate wind energy development impacts and how other landscapes transformations (agricultural exploitation ; urbanisation ; transport infrastructures…) interact with each other.

I work on a research project which aim to determine the utilisation of the sea by bats and birds along manche Atlantique French coasts (in a futur context of the offshore windfarm development). Our acoustic sampling aims to have a better understanding of migration routes of bats and birds and also their phenology, their flying behaviour or the meteorological variables wich condition their presence at sea.
I work on the Migratlane project with Christian Kerbiriou, Antoine Chabrolle, Anais Pessato and Juliette Baron.

I initially worked as a tropical ecologist, focusing on understanding trophic cascades involving insectivorous predators (i.e. birds and bats), insects, and plants. I have extensive experience surveying bats in diverse tropical forests, particularly in Papua New Guinea. Currently, my research focuses on exploring the links between bat activity and mortality due to wind turbines within the French landscape, as part of the APOCOPE project (Amélioration de la Protection des Oiseaux et des Chauves-souris et Optimisation de la Production d’Energie Eolienne).

I have a long professional experience as an employee in organisations and consulting firms, which led me to conduct applied research in acoustic monitoring. I have notably worked with the CESCO lab on a method to evaluate bat acoustic activity (ACTICHIRO) an I contributed to the design of automated ID methods used in the TADARIDA software.
